Elon Musk launches Tesla’s Optimus robots

Elon Musk recently took center stage at the We, Robot event, to reveal two of Tesla’s exceptional creations, Cybercab and Optimus.

Showcasing his creation, the Tesla CEO startled the audience by claiming that the robots can do “anything.” Moreover, he claimed they will be among humans and will also be able to serve drinks. (via The Verge)

More functions of these humanoid robots include day-to-day human chores like walking, babysitting, getting groceries, mowing the lawn, and more. Furthermore, Musk called this AI invention, “the biggest product ever of any kind.” The origin of Tesla’s Optimus robots dates back to 2021, wherein they introduced this innovative concept, originally called Tesla bots.

Since then, the company has worked towards the humanoid robots’ advancement and given them significant upgrades. In 2023, the company showed the world their enhanced version, Optimus Gen 2. They exhibited features like improved walking speed, talking, folding shirts, swift hand movements, and others.

Tesla robots pricing estimate revealed

According to Elon Musk, Tesla’s Optimus Robots will cost somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000.

The Tesla Optimus Robots are still in development and the final version hasn’t been completed. However, when they hit the markets, their starting price will be $20,000. These robots are not just dedicated to household chores but could prove useful in one’s business and professional lives too.

At a previous shareholder event, Musk claimed to limitedly produce these humanoid robots before he officially launched them in the market. These limited robots’ efficiency will be tested in his factories first by next year. Additionally, Musk looks forward to seeing Optimus elevate Tesla’s market cap by $25 trillion in the future.
