Multiple injured after 2 separate fires in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – On Sunday, local fire crews responded to two fires. Multiple injuries were reported.

Cochiti Road fire:
Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) had a busy morning putting out fires in the metro. AFR responded to a home near Central and Florida Street in southeast Albuquerque around 3:30 a.m.

Firefighters brought the flames under control within 20 minutes, but the house was significantly damaged. Two people were injured. One was taken to UNMH, and the other was treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.


Gilman Tunnels undergoing temporary closure

Constitution Ave fire:
Additionally, AFR also rescued one person after a fire broke out at a business in northeast Albuquerque around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Crews responded to the building off of Constitution and San Pedro, where they were able to get the fire under control within ten minutes.

One person was rescued from the building and taken to the hospital. AFR said the majority of the damage was confined to the hallway. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
