APD: Suspect dead, officer injured following shooting in southeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A suspect is dead and an Albuquerque police officer is injured following a shooting in southeast Albuquerque Sunday night.

According to Albuquerque Police Department Chief Harold Medina, around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night, officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a trailer park near Central Ave. and Eubank Blvd.

While they were on their way, the caller told dispatchers they could hear shots fired. When officers arrived they found a man in the middle of the street. “At this point in time, the individual was non-compliant and shots were fired. We do know that one officer was struck in the hand and arm,” said Medina. “The individual who was armed is deceased on scene and we did locate a firearm on scene.”

The chief said the officer is expected to be okay. No other information has been released at this time.
