Cooler weather headed to New Mexico

New Mexico stays on the warmer side today. A noticeable drop in temperatures is coming on Wednesday.

A low pressure system to the west of New Mexico will continue to linger through tomorrow. The low is losing strength. Though it does still have enough moisture to provide the western parts of the state will a few spotty showers tonight.

A backdoor cold front will be moving across New Mexico Tuesday and Tuesday night. This front will be bringing cooler and breezier temperatures across most of New Mexico. In central, northern, and eastern New Mexico temperature drops of 10+ degrees are expected. The front will also be bringing isolated storms to northern and western New Mexico on Tuesday and Wednesday.

An upper-level trough moves toward to the Great Basin through Thursday. This trough will bring more widespread storms to New Mexico Thursday through the weekend. Rain chances will be nearly statewide Thursday through Sunday. The placement of New Mexico under the trough could also bring potentially severe storms to the state over the weekend.
