ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An annual event fusing ancient Japanese belief in ancestral spirits and a Buddhist custom honoring ancestors returns to the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden next week. The Obon Festival will take place on Friday, August 16 at 6 p.m.
People will be able to release lanterns to commemorate their loved ones. There will also be a traditional tea ceremony demonstration, playing of Shamisen, taiko drumming, calligraphy, and more. For more information on the festival, click this link.
