Today begins a stretch of a more active monsoon pattern across New Mexico. Storms have developed this afternoon across the state. Some storms are dropping heavy rain, especially over the HPCC burn scar area where a Flash Flood Warning has is in effect. Some showers and storms will stick around late tonight into early Friday morning before ending by sunrise.
Scattered afternoon showers and storms will continue each afternoon and evening across parts of New Mexico into the weekend, with the highest chances for rain Friday and Saturday. Each afternoon will bring a chance for heavy rain, especially over burn scar areas. Temperatures will also be slightly cooler into the weekend with the increasing rain chances.
Some drier air will move in starting Sunday, causing storm chances to become more isolated and spotty. At the same time, temperatures will also be heating back up into the middle of next week too.
