Aggie announcer donating audio backlog to school

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – The long-time “voice of the Aggies” is making a donation to the school before his retirement. Jack Nixon announced his retirement earlier this year after 45 years with New Mexico State University athletics.

Nixon says he will donate his collection of audio tapes of the games to the school. The tapes go as far back as 1976, including a game where Larry Bird came to Las Cruces, the year before Indiana State was the runner-up in the national championship.

The tapes will be featured in NMSU’s archives and Special Collections Department.
