AKTOR Nears 70% Completion on A0 Bucharest South Lot 3

The Greek constructor AKTOR has progressed on the site of the future South Bucharest Highway A0 Lot 3 in the past month, closing in to 70% physical completion stage, thus backing the promise of delivery to traffic by September 2024.

The A0 South Lot 3 segment is 18 km long, of which 15.465 km is related to the South Ring Road, and 2.5 km is related to the North Ring Road, separated by the A1 highway to Pitesti. Besides the impressive passage over the A1 in the Ciorogarla area, Aktor is completing on this segment another 4 bridges, 9 overpasses, 46 footbridges, two short-term parking lots, and two service spaces.

“I have personally assured the Romanian Government that we shall be ready by the end of August, beginning of September”, recently said Alexandros Exarchou, Vice President of the Board of Directors, and CEO of the Intrakat Group, which includes the constructor Aktor SA.

Concretely, within the last month, the AKTOR team has completed mounting the central section of the road junction over the A1 highway near Ciorogârla, which will weigh over 540 tons and will require 5 tons of protective paint when finalized.

The crossing over the Bucharest – Craiova railway is partially completed, with the metal deck installed on all three spans. Preparatory works are being carried out to ensure optimal conditions for welding segments, crossbeams, and the installation of metal deck consolidation panels. At the CFR bridge, the final prefabricated concrete beams will be installed in July. Gradually, as the beams are installed, prefabricated panels will be mounted and overlay slabs will be poured, so that by mid-August the roadway on the overpass will be operational.

The constructor has also progressed in other key points of the segment: the highway passage over DJ601 at km 98+272 (Ciorogarla), the bridge over the Ciorogarla river at km 99+932 (Ciorogarla), the passage on DC 126 over the highway at km 86+791 (Clinceni), and four other such passages over County roads or utility infrastructure elements (gas pipeline, telecommunication backbones).

The 11 structures (bridges and overpasses) are 70% completed.

In addition to the above-mentioned elements, currently, AKTOR has started a series of works that will be focused on in parallel in the upcoming period:

The BSC layer is 60% completed. The work for laying the stabilized ballast will continue.
The constructor has already poured approximately 20,000 tons of asphalt out of a total of 125,000 tons and will continue pouring at a sustained pace.
Additionally, AKTOR has begun the work for lighting and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), which includes installing technological systems to improve traffic safety, efficiency, and management, such as traffic monitoring systems, driver information systems, incident alert and management systems, etc. The installation work for safety fences, sound-absorbing panels, and foundations for ITS and vertical markings will begin at the end of June.

You can see here the progress during the second half of May 2024.

Besides the A0 South Bucharest Lot 3, AKTOR is working around the clock to complete the future Brasov-Simeria railway line, part of the Rhine-Danube Corridor, Brasov-Sighisoara section, subsection 2: Apața-Cața, which involves digging the longest twin tunnels in the rail system of Romania.

AKTOR Construction is a member of the Intrakat Group, an industry leader in Greece’s construction, infrastructure, concessions/public-private partnerships (PPP), renewable energy sources (RES), energy storage, real estate development, environmental projects, and digital technologies sectors, with a significant presence in Southeast Europe, listed on the Athens Stock Exchange since 2001.
