Albuquerque burglary suspect will stay behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the Albuquerque Police Department’s top 10 burglary suspects will remain behind bars. According to police, 55-year-old David Johnson is accused of breaking into multiple businesses between late October 2023 and June 2024. Court records said he stole more than $100,000 worth of items from at least ten stores in Albuquerque.


Woman takes plea deal in January 2020 Albuquerque murder

The state filed for pretrial detention based on the numerous charges filed against Johnson. His lawyer argued they were non-violent offenses and conditions of release could keep the public safe. Judge Jennifer Wernersbach granted the state’s motion meaning Johnson will be locked through his trial.

He’s facing 19 felonies including multiple counts of larceny and ten misdemeanors.
