Albuquerque man convicted of child sex crimes sentenced for breaking probation again

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Peter Ortiz, on probation for child sex crimes, will be back behind bars for violating his parole for a sixth time.

Ortiz was sentenced to probation for trying to have sex with a minor, who turned out to be an undercover cop, and for impersonating a cop and asking women and young girls inappropriate questions over the phone in 2008 and 2011. 

The most recent probation violation came in February of 2024 when parole officers discovered an explicit drawing and a pocket knife in his home. Judge Angela Jewell sentenced Ortiz to a year behind bars for the violation.
