Albuquerque mother pleads no contest in case involving the death of her daughter

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –Christina Bennett took a plea deal in two different cases, pleading no contest to child abandonment resulting in death, child abuse, aggravated fleeing from police.

Court records show in 2023 Bennet showed up at her parents house in Albuquerque, saying her 4-month-old daughter was dead. An autopsy says the cause of death is undetermined, but they did find meth in the babies system. Witnesses told police Bennett was a drug user and would breastfeed the baby. Days earlier, Bennett led police on a chase with the baby after shoplifting at a gas station.

Bennett is facing between four and 12 years at sentencing. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
