APD said Michael Pacheco shot the victim because he believed he was having a relationship with Pacheco’s girlfriend. Pacheco was also involved in a 2016 incident where police said he threatened to kill his mother and other family members said he was dangerous. Police fired at Pacheco when they confronted him. That case was eventually dismissed by prosecutors.

Pacheco was charged with murder and tampering with evidence for the latest incident.
