Albuquerque Public Schools receives donation of school supplies

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Volunteers came out to the Albuquerque Public Schools clothing bank to celebrate the donation of thousands of dollars of school supplies. Along with school supplies and clothes, the City of Albuquerque and the Corporate Volunteer Council raised more than $20,000 to help kids start the school year off right.

APS Superintendent Dr. Gabriella Durán Blakey spoke about what it means for families. “They subtract at least one worry from the equation. These supplies make certain that kids are ready to learn. One step closer to fitting in. One step closer to being the productive adults, we at APS are determined to help them become,” said Dr. Blakey.

At last year’s event, more than 1,500 students received school supplies.
