APD identifies 18-year-old as suspect in fatal hit-and-run

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police (APD) are looking for a man who admitted to hitting and killing a woman with his car in southeast Albuquerque.

Earlier this month, APD responded to a hit-and-run call on San Pablo Street and Trumbull Avenue.

According to the police report, a couple was walking down the street, when a man heard a car approaching at a fast speed. He was able to jump out of the way, but Melissa Powers was hit by the car. She died on the scene.

Three days later, 18-year-old Jorge Ceniceros reportedly called the police to admit to the crime, giving exact details of what happened.

Ceniceros is facing a homicide and hit-and-run charge. A warrant is out for his arrest.
