APRA AMCOS Announces ‘More Than A One Night Stand’ Events In Warrnambool… And They’re Free

While the infamous One Night Stand Festival has sold out tickets for it’s first Victoria run in a decade, Warrnambool locals wanting to explore avenues in the music industry will be able to engage with newest initiative More Than A One Night Stand.

The initiative comes as a collaboration between several of Australia’s largest music corporations, including music rights body APRA AMCOS, The Association of Artists Managers (AAM) Australia, the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR), Music Australia, The Push, and several Victorian music associations.

The free sessions will kick off before the festival on Thursday 12th September, running numerous workshops all the way up to Saturday the 14th. Events include Industry Forums, Introductory seminars, A First Nations Panel and an Australian Record Label Panel, as well as Songwriting and Artist Management presentations. With a wealth of knowledge from industry legends such as Sycco, WHATSONOT, Miss Kannina and The Jungle Giants, the sessions aim to provide a breadth of information not just to artists but also aspiring music media personnel.

For school attendees unable to make it to the early September series of events, APRA AMCOS and The Push have once again teamed up to present the SongMakers School Holiday Program in Warrnambool from 24th to 26th September. This workshop, led by mentors Alice Ivy, Jackson Phelan and Woodes, will focus on all the fundamentals of the music industry for high school students.

APRA AMCOS Head of Membership Karen Don spoke of the significance of these events and their accessibility to rural and regional demographics:

“”For any music creator heading to or living in Warrnambool this September, these events are not to be missed! From in-conversation sessions to workshops and SongMakers programs, there will be something for everyone, from the aspiring to the experienced.”

“Thanks to triple j for the opportunity to extend the One Night Stand event, and to Music Australia for incorporating songwriting into an amazing slate of events and opportunities in regional Victoria.”

Free tickets for the More Than A One Night Stand sessions are available for retrieval via Oztix, with further details of SongMakers School Holiday Program  available through the APRA AMCOS website.
