APS school supply drive benefits students, teachers

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque is hosting its annual APS school drive with its partners over at the Corporate Volunteer Council of New Mexico. Through the One Albuquerque Fund donation site, the city will again collect donations for the drive through August 16 in order to reach the city’s goal of raising $3,000.

Nonprofit & Philanthropy Coordinator for the City of Albuquerque Mariah Harrison says they’re accepting donations of all kinds. “For an average school year, a kid needs everything from scissors to pens to an entire backpack maybe. They might also just need notebooks, copy paper, markers; things that keep them creative but also things that give them the tools to be able to pay attention and not necessarily worry about those things throughout the day,” Harrison says.

Also, teachers are also able to benefit from the school supply donations. “Whatever they need for their particular classroom they can list out and get them for their classroom,” says Harrison.
