ASO Launches 2025 Season: “Music Brings Us Together”

The renowned Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) – South Australia’s largest performing arts organisation, putting on concerts since 1936 – has officially launched its 2025 Season, as of October 2nd.

From organising concerts featuring blockbusters from the stage, page, and screen, to the classics we all know and love, to bold new pieces, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for the ASO. Having just unveiled a range of culturally and thematically diverse but ultimately unifying events, the ASO once again ensures that there will be something for everybody to enjoy, whether attendees are well-versed in classical music or not.

Chief Conductor Mark Wigglesworth shares his sentiments on the transformative power of music. “Music releases us to connect with very deep emotions within ourselves, and shows us how connected these emotions are with other people’s. Music brings us together in an unshakeable way, generating extraordinary empathy towards each other,” he says, keen for his inaugural season to take off.

Acknowledging classical music’s roots in cultural and economic elitism, the ASO hopes to make this season as accessible as possible to South Australia’s youths.

For example, if you’re aged 30 and under, the ASO are now offering $30 tickets for most of their upcoming concerts – a steal, as oftentimes tickets can reach well over $100 for adults.

Additionally, the ASO offers a discounted full-time membership for students over fifteen years of age. For $50, student members gain access to FREE rush tickets to Symphony Series concerts and discounted tickets to special events for an entire season.

This season’s shows include a concert from ARIA-winning composer Josh Pyke that will mark the twentieth anniversary of the release of his landmark debut, Feeding the Wolves.

The ASO will also be bringing to the stage the iconic scores of the films Back to the Future and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, which younger audiences are sure to enjoy.

The ASO will of course also be revisiting the classics, by organising concerts that will breathe new life into the music of Brahms, Beethoven, Stravinsky and more.

“ASO enjoys the pride of its community and in 2025 we continue to create opportunities for all South Australians to experience their orchestra in many different venues and through a range of musical styles. Our 2025 season is filled with opportunities to bring families and friends together, whether seasoned or first-time audience members of the orchestra,” Colin Cornish says.

Packages for Season 2025 are now on sale. Single tickets will go on sale on 12 November 2024. The full program is available on the ASO’s website now.
