Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Back to Black digital release date for Focus Features‘ latest biographical drama about the life of the late Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse. This comes after more than two weeks since the film had made its theatrical debut.

When is the Back to Black digital release date?

Back to Black will be available to rent or purchase on digital platforms starting tomorrow, June 4, 2024. The film currently holds a worldwide gross of $47 million at the office. Despite its very low Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it still managed to garner an Audience Score of 86%.

The film was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson from a script written by Matt Greenhalgh, who previously collaborated on 2009’s Nowhere Boy. It stars Marisa Abela (Industry) as Winehouse, Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), Eddie Marsan (Fair Play), and Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris). The film was made with the full support of Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing, and The Amy Winehouse Estate.

“The extraordinary story of Amy Winehouse’s early rise to fame from her early days in Camden through the making of her groundbreaking album, BACK TO BLACK, that catapulted Winehouse to global fame,” reads the synopsis. “Told through Amy’s eyes and inspired by her deeply personal lyrics, the film explores and embraces the many layers of the iconic artist and the tumultuous love story at the center of one of the most legendary albums of all time.”
