Bernalillo County creates documentary on illegal dumping on Parajito Mesa

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Illegal dumping has been a problem on Albuquerque’s westside for years and now Bernalillo County is highlighting its efforts to clean it up. The county created a mini-documentary called Pajarito Mesa: Don’t Tread On Us, centering on 65,000 scrap tires left on a property.

The county received $371,000 to clean the site. Families say they are fed up with the trash. “So that makes me feel sad because they are not taking into consideration that there’s families out here, there’s kids being raised out here. Causing harm to our environment, Causing harm to our family,” said Luz Maldonado, Parjito Mesa Resident.

The county brought out heavy equipment to clear away the tires. To report illegal dumping in the county, click here.
