Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have provided an optimistic Big Little Lies Season 3 update, confirming that the team behind the black comedy drama is “moving fast and furious.”
Kidman and Witherspoon confirmed in an interview with Vanity Fair that they are officially working on the third season of Big Little Lies. While other details have yet to be announced, the recent Big Little Lies Season 3 update serves as the show’s most positive update yet since Season 2 aired back in 2019.
This also comes after Witherspoon announced earlier this year that they are still trying to make Season 3 happen. Kidman, on the other hand, revealed last year that they “will be bringing a third one.”
What is the Big Little Lies Season 3 update?
The Big Little Lies stars, both of whom also serve as the show’s executive producers, shared that they both got excited about working on the highly anticipated third season of the hit series.
“It’s okay, baby. I get excited too. Then I’ve got Laura [Dern] calling me, and Zoe [Kravitz] and Shailene [Woodley]. They’re all like, ‘Nic said that we’re making Big Little Lies season three,’” said Witherspoon.
Kidman then added, “But we are now! We’re moving fast and furious, and Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book. Yeah, and we’re in good shape. The rest is — we need to shut up, because there’s this whole thing that you should never talk about something until you’ve done it. If you talk about doing it, it’s the dopamine hit of doing it. You feel like you’ve done it. Did you know that? Have you heard about that? It’s a scientific study.”
Based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 novel, Big Little Lies — which debuted to critical acclaim — centers on the lives of five rich women embroiled in a murder investigation.
“The tale of three mothers of first graders whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder,” the logline reads.
In addition to Witherspoon as Madeline and Kidman as Celeste, Big Little Lies also stars Shailene Woodley as Jane, Laura Dern as Renata, and Zoë Kravitz as Bonnie. The rest of the cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper, Jeffrey Nordling, Kathryn Newton, Iain Armitage, Meryl Streep, and more.
The first two seasons of Big Little Lies are available to stream on Max.
