From a well-earned siesta in the wake of Dead & Company’s 30-date Dead Forever series at Las Vegas’ Sphere, which concluded on August 10, Bobby Weir continues to plot his return to the road this fall and winter. Today, the legendary Grateful Dead guitarist and vocalist formally shares his plans for New Year’s Eve, unveiling a six-show series with his Wolf Bros combo from Dec. 27 to Jan 3 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
On Dec. 27, Weir will kick off his series alongside his longtime backing trio of Don Was, Jay Lane, and Jeff Chimenti, plus a chorus of horns and strings, at Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center. The ensemble will dig in on this stage for the next three nights, ringing in 2025 on Dec. 31 at the same site where they played into 2024. After a moment to set resolutions on New Year’s Day, Weir and the Wolf Bros trio will keep the celebration rolling on Jan. 2 and 3 at the more intimate stage of Fort Lauderdale’s The Parker.
Prior to the New Year’s run, Weir will make two high-profile festival appearances in the fall, first assuming the spotlight alongside other stars like Trey Anastasio, Eric Clapton and Mavis Staples at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum for “Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson” on Oct. 17. On Oct. 27, the icon will connect with The String Cheese Incident to headline Live Oak, Fla.’s Suwannee Hulaween as The Bobby Weir Incident. In November, Weir will join up with Wolf Bros for five symphony dates, stopping in Cincinnati on Nov. 13, Chicago on Nov. 17 and 18 and New Orleans on Nov. 22 and 23.
