Brian Kelley Performs During RNC, Teases New Song Titled ‘Make America Great Again’

Former Florida Georgia Line member Brian Kelley is teasing a new, potentially politically-charged song after his performance during the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night (July 17).

While sharing a photo on Instagram from his performance of “American Spirit” during the Republican National Convention that is being held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kelley also revealed the title of a new song he will soon release, “Make America Great Again.” His Instagram post did not include audio for the song, though the titular phrase is a slogan that was popularized by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump (and current Republican presidential nominee) during his successful 2016 political campaign.

“Make America Great Again” will release next Friday, July 26.

The song Kelley performed during the event, “American Spirit,” was released on July 4th weekend in 2022, and served as a tribute to military members and others who sacrificed to defend the United States. The song was inspired by Kelley’s grandfather, John Edward Kelley, who served in the United States Army in World War II and earned two purple hearts.

During Kelley’s performance, several fraternity members from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill joined the singer-songwriter onstage. Members of the fraternity went viral after video and photos were shared of the students standing around an American flag, and attempting to keep the flag held aloft during a pro-Palestinian demonstration held on campus in April.

Kelley is one of a handful of country artists who took part in this year’s RNC, including Chris Janson and Lee Greenwood.

Kelley released the solo project Tennessee Truth earlier this year.
