The new documentary I Am: Celine Dion was released on Prime Video on Wednesday, June 25, 2024. Directed by Irene Taylor, it sees the singer opening up about her health struggles. In 2022, Celine Dion was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder.
The documentary shows glimpses of the singer’s “life-altering illness” with behind-the-scenes looks at her struggles. It also highlights the iconic star’s love for performing. For the unversed, the “I’m Alive” singer comes from a musical family. Celine has 13 siblings, and all have been connected to music.
Who are Celine Dion’s 13 siblings?
Per People Magazine, Celine’s siblings are Denise, Clément, Claudette, Liette, Michel, Louise, Jacques, Daniel, Ghislaine, Linda, Manon, and twins Paul and Pauline. Born to Adhémar and Thérèse Dion, Celine was the youngest among the fourteen siblings. Adhémar passed away in 2003 at 80. Seventeen years later, Thérèse died at the age of 92. However, over the years, the family has been surrounded by tragedy. Celine’s brother, Daniel, died days after her husband, René Angélil, passed away, reported ABC News. Both Daniel and René died of cancer in 2016.
The singer previously revealed to People Magazine that her siblings introduced her to the art of live performances. Celine was inspired by the dedication of her brothers and sisters toward their craft as they hoped to become successful singers. “If I’m successful, I do it for them and for me,” Celine said. Besides playing a role in impacting her musical journey, her siblings have been a part of her professional life, too. Michel worked with Celine as her assistant tour manager. Meanwhile, her sister Pauline started the singer’s fan club.
The new documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, streaming on Prime Video, features footage of Celine’s childhood with her parents and 13 siblings. It also shows the singer’s life as a mother to three boys.
