ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque has now joined a growing list of cities across the United States that are suing two major car manufacturers. In the newly filed lawsuit against Kia and Hyundai, the city claims the car makers left out crucial anti-theft technology in order to cut costs.

The suit claims care thieves continue to target Kia and Hyundai vehicles for being easy to steal saying many of their vehicles manufactured from 2011 to 2021 do not have immobilizes to stop the car from starting if the wrong key is used or the ignition is tampered with.
Other major cities that have filed similar lawsuits against the manufacturers include Seattle, Cleveland, and St. Louis.
