LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Las Vegas said it has seen a slight increase in water production on Wednesday. However, it is still not enough. The city is still asking residents to limit water usage after heavy rains hit the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Fire burn scar and washed soot and debris into the city’s water supply.
The city’s normal consumption is 1.5-1.7 million gallons per day. on Tuesday, the city was able to meet a 30% reduction in water to 1 million gallons per day.
Water amount:
Sunday, June 23: 3,025,000 gallons
Monday, June 24: 2,408,325 gallons
Tuesday, June 25: 354,158 gallons
Wednesday, June 26: 3,668,742 gallons
The city said possible flooding on the burn scar on Wednesday could slow down current production due to increased turbidity.
