NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Supreme Court has upheld the conviction for the man who raped and killed a six-year-old girl. Leland Hust is serving a life sentence for the August 2018 murder of Ariana “Jade” Romero.
Hust appealed the conviction on several grounds including issues during closing arguments. In particular, Hust took issue with the prosecutor telling jurors to “do the thing” and the defense being unable to bring up other molestation claims against another family member.
