Day 7: 100 Days of Cloud – Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone!

RMAG news

Today’s journey took an exciting turn! While I’m neck-deep in my 100 Days of Cloud challenge, I had the incredible opportunity to attend an AWS Student Community Day Call for Papers (CFP) workshop.

A big shout-out to Felix Jumason, Sumaia Nalukwgo, and Kelvin Tuei for leading such an informative session! It was packed with valuable insights on crafting compelling CFPs and delivering impactful presentations.
Understanding the event theme and tailoring your proposal to resonate with the audience is key, as Felix emphasized. Sumaia’s session on crafting a strong CFP was eye-opening, and the interactive Sessionalize tool demo was super helpful!
Kelvin’s talk on the importance of speaker selection resonated deeply. Building a strong portfolio and establishing your credibility goes a long way in the world of presentations.
Now, here’s the exciting part! I’m setting a new challenge for myself – submitting a CFP for the AWS Student Community Day happening in September at Strathmore University!
Speaking about AWS is something I’ve done before, but presenting to a large audience is a whole new ball game! It’s definitely outside my comfort zone, but I’m always up for a challenge!
Stay tuned as I navigate the world of CFPs and hone my presentation skills. Who knows, you might see me speaking at the AWS Student Community Day!

Day 7: Beyond the Console: Diving into the World of Public Speaking

While I’ve been immersed in the technical aspects of cloud computing for the past week, today marked a significant shift in my 100 Days of Cloud journey. I had the privilege of attending a workshop on crafting compelling Call for Papers (CFPs) and delivering impactful presentations, hosted by the AWS Student Community.

A massive thank you to Felix Jumason, Sumaia Nalukwgo, and Kelvin Tuei for sharing their invaluable insights. Their guidance on understanding the target audience, structuring a compelling CFP, and building a strong speaker profile has been incredibly enlightening.

Inspired by the workshop, I’ve decided to step outside my comfort zone and submit a CFP for the upcoming AWS Student Community Day in September at Strathmore University. While I’ve had the opportunity to speak about AWS in smaller settings, the prospect of addressing a larger audience is both exhilarating and daunting.

This new challenge aligns perfectly with the spirit of continuous learning and growth that drives my 100 Days of Cloud initiative. Stay tuned as I embark on this exciting journey of crafting a persuasive CFP and honing my public speaking skills.
