LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – FEMA is reminding people affected by the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Fire to start filing their claim by November 14. The agency said this also includes damage caused by burn scar flooding over the last few days.
For anyone unsure if they qualify, FEMA encouraged them to apply saying qualification would be determined after the claim is filed. They also say if any damages happened after that date, claimants should contact the office and ask to have their claim reopened to address new damage.
According to FEMA, around $850 million in relief funds have been paid out.
