Del Taco partners with Danny Trejo on pork al pastor

Del Taco has teamed up with Trejo’s Tacos, founded by movie star and entrepreneur Danny Trejo, on roasted pork al pastor.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 22, the Lake Forest-based chain will be selling two Al Pastor Street Tacos for about $4.99 at participating locations, according to a news release. The tacos are topped with diced pineapple, diced onions, chopped cilantro and green sauce.

Del Taco is also serving Al Pastor Loaded Fries with toppings that include pineapple, cheddar cheese and house-made guacamole; an Al Pastor Epic Burrito; and an Al Pastor Cheddar Quesadilla.

Trejo appears in a video on Del Taco’s website flashing a machete, the blade that provided the title of his 2010 movie.

To go with the al pastor, Del Taco is serving a pineapple shake and Sprite or lemonade with pineapple chunks.

Trejo’s Tacos has five locations in Los Angeles and Santa Monica that serve carnitas tacos.
