Delgaz Grid: Investments of over 375 million lei in low-voltage power lines and transformer stations, with financing from the Modernization Fund

The value of the works is over 375 million lei, of which 286 million lei from the Modernization Fund; About 460 km of low voltage network will be modernized within the projects.

The distribution company Delgaz Grid, part of the E.ON group in Romania, has so far submitted a number of 20 investment projects, totaling 3.3 billion lei, in order to obtain financing of 2.6 billion lei from the Modernization Fund, the difference being insured by the company. Six projects, worth 900 million lei, with a co-financing of almost 700 million lei, have already been approved and the financing contracts signed.

The package of 20 projects refers to: modernization of transformer stations, high, medium and low voltage networks, transformer stations, SMART metering, as well as increasing the capacity of networks in the Moldova area, where the Delgaz Grid company operates a distribution network of electricity (Bacău, Iasi, Neamț, Vaslui, Botoșani and Suceava counties). The two projects for the modernization of low-voltage power lines and transformer substations, of which the financing contract was signed for one, have a total value of 375 million lei, of which 286 million lei from the Modernization Fund.

Cristian Secoșan, general manager of Delgaz Grid: “98% of the prosumers are connected to the low-voltage network, and for the safe takeover of the energy produced by them, the modernization of the infrastructure is essential. We invest sustainably in the development and increase of the capacity of the distribution system, both from our own sources and from financing attracted from European Funds, through the Modernization Fund.”

The main works considered are:

the modernization of about 466 km of low-voltage network and the equipment at the transformer stations; the replacement of almost 100 transformers and about 7,700 non-compliant poles; installation of 4,500 SMART meters.

Delgaz Grid, the distribution company within the German E.ON Group, operates a natural gas network of 25,800 km in 20 counties in the North and West of Romania (Cluj, Bistrița Năsăud, Maramureș, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Timiș , Arad, Bihor, Caraș-Severin, Hunedoara, Mureș, Sibiu, Alba, Harghita, Iasi, Botoșani, Vaslui, Suceava, Neamț and Bacău) and an electricity network of 81,500 km in six counties in Moldova: Bacău, Botoşani, Iasi , Neamţ, Suceava and Vaslui. Since entering the local market in 2005, E.ON has invested 2.3 billion euros, mainly for the modernization of gas and electricity networks, and transferred 3.4 billion euros in taxes and fees to the state.
