Drier week ahead for New Mexico

It will be a relatively calm day across New Mexico. Most of the state will remain dry.

The high pressure system over the four corners is providing moisture to the northern region of New Mexico. Later today the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez mountains will see a few spotty showers. This high pressure system will weaken tomorrow. However, the moisture and rain chances in the north will stick around.

Later in the week, a low pressure system will build over the Pacific Northwest. This will bring dry air back to New Mexico. This dry air will cause rain chances to decrease in the northern regions of the state. Only spotty showers can be expected late in the week. The states next best chance for widespread rain won’t come until Sunday.

Weather will be seasonable for the regions in New Mexico not experiencing rain for the next few days. Cloud cover will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy in the afternoons. Temperatures will be near average for most of the week. As we near the formation of the low pressure, certain regions like central and southern New Mexico will see temperatures creep up into the 90’s.
