Techland will spin off its parkour/survival horror adventure Dying Light with Dying Light: The Beast, a 20-hour adventure launching in 2025 that brings back the series original protagonist, Kyle Crane, with his original voice actor, Craig Smith.

“Stepping back into Kyle Crane’s shoes feels like a reunion with an old friend,” Smith said. “And even though he’s gone through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero left in him.”

Dying Light: The Beast was to have been premium downloadable content for 2022’s Dying Light 2, but the project grew so large that Techland decided to launch it as a stand-alone game. The Beast is set in a new environment, Castor Woods, which is described as a “once-bustling tourist destination” that is, naturally, overrun by the infected.” A news release added that Castor Woods “offers diverse traversal options, whether it’s using your parkour skills to gain the upper hand on your enemies or hopping into an abandoned 4×4 to outrun the horrors of the night.”

Dying Light: The Beast will also feature four-player co-operative multiplayer. Techland said that those who own the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition (a special edition available at launch in 2022) will get Dying Light: The Beast for free.

It’s also available for separate purchase on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
