While on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, Sheeran spoke about a handful of musicians – one of whom, was Olivia Rodrigo. Shane mentioned ‘Driver’s License’ as a solid debut single, to which Sheeran added: “Both those records actually, ‘Guts’ and ‘Sour,’ are I think un-skippable. It’s just, as a record, just a great record.”

Earlier during the chat, Sheeran also lauded Britney Spears‘ ‘Baby One More Time’ as “top two or three best debut songs ever written”. It came as Sheeran and Shane spoke about their favourite debut songs. The both also agreed on Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Video Games’ as another “perfect” debut.

Meanwhile, Sheeran dusted off some old favourites and rarities at his ‘X’ 10th anniversary show in New York last month. He also played a surprise live set at a primary school in Brighton earlier in May.

In other news, Sheeran recently confirmed that he was working on new music but said it’d likely be a while before it was released. He put out two studio albums last year in the form of ‘-‘ and ‘Autumn Variations’.

In early May, Sheeran also revealed why he had given ‘Love Yourself’ to Justin Bieber during a gig. Before performing the song for those in attendance, Sheeran told the crowd: “This is a song when I was writing ‘Divide’ I was writing a lot of songs about a lot of different things, and I wrote this song and honestly, I played it to people and they went, ‘Meh’. I played it for one person, and they said ‘I would like that song, I would like to sing it’. I went, ‘Cool, have it,’ and then it got very big.”
