Elk hunting season begins in Valles Caldera National Preserve

JEMEZ SPRINGS (KRQE) – The 2024 elk hunting season is underway in Valles Caldera National Preserve. Hunters who received a draw from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) for Valles Caldera may be visible in the park until the season ends on Dec. 4.

September is archery season. Hunters are not required to wear blaze orange during this season. However, hunters will be wearing blaze orange during all other hunts.
