Punishment is 16 months; 13 are suspended for two yearsDurham player takes ‘full responsibility’ for placing bets

The Durham and England bowler Brydon Carse has been banned for three months, with a further 13 months suspended, after accepting charges of breaching cricket’s anti-corruption rules by placing 303 bets on a variety of cricket matches over a period of more than two years.

None of Carse’s bets, made between 2017 and 2019, were placed on games in which he was participating, but the sport’s betting integrity rules prohibit professional players, coaches and support staff from betting on any cricket played anywhere in the world.
