Latest estimated, provisional and official results from the European parliament as they come in from the 27 member states. In addition to to their own rivalry, the parliament’s traditional centre-right and centre-left groups, the EPP and S&D, face challenges from populist groups on both left and right. First national results expected around 18.15CEST / 17.15BST

This is the 10th election for the EU parliament, in which all 720 seats will be contested and 361 seats are needed for a majority. No single political group is likely to achieve this target.
