“We Won’t Waste the Mandate You Gave Us,” Says Nicușor Dan
Nicușor Dan made, on Sunday evening, the first statements after winning the elections for the Capital City Hall for the second time. He says he will not waste the new mandate he got and thanked those who contributed to his victory.
“Politicians never win elections, they are won by communities. Today in Bucharest we had a community that wanted honesty in public office. He wanted institutions that worked for the people, who wanted justice. I want to confess to you that I am overwhelmed by the responsibility you have given me and the hopes you place in us. Neither I nor the colleagues who came into the administration with me have ever mocked and will never mock the mandate you gave us. I want to thank everyone who contributed to this campaign and those who contributed to the 2020, 2026 campaigns, the volunteers, the people who collected signatures, the people who gave money, the public figures who gave their name to what we are doing , said Nicușor Dan.
The Mayor General stated that he will trigger a referendum to determine how the money from Bucharest will be divided, between the General Mayor’s Office and those of the sector. “With the approval of the General Council, I will trigger a local referendum on how the money will be divided between the Capital City Hall and the sector town halls. For years Bucharest has had a development deficit, for years the Capital City Hall has been forced to think small, because it has no money to think big. The money is barely enough to maintain the infrastructure we already have. We cannot think about expanding public transport, we cannot think about new hospital bodies, we cannot think about new bodies for the universities in Bucharest, which could bring tens of thousands of foreign students to Bucharest and put Bucharest on the academic map. Instead, we have curbs over curbs, pavers that replace other pavers and pansies that replace other pansies,” Nicușor Dan also declared.
