Fake News: Romania Targeted by Russian Drones

RMAG news

Romania’s Ministry of National Defence points out that a series of false information circulated on X, but also on other social networks, which claim that Romania was targeted by the drone attacks of the Russian Federation executed in the last days and that the anti-aircraft defence means of the Romanian Army deployed at the border would have fired on them.

This so-called information, initially published by Visegrad24, has no basis. The attacks carried out by the Russian Federation targeted the Ukrainian harbour infrastructure on the Danube and not targets on Romania’s territory, and the forces and means of the Ministry of National Defense deployed in the border area with Ukraine did not, in any such situation, fire on the Russian Federation’s means of attack.

In the last 24 hours, indications were received regarding two possible new areas of incidence, located on the Romanian bank of the Danube, in the vicinity of the town of Periprava. These locations will be investigated, according to procedures, in the immediate future.

There were also indications that were not confirmed, such as the Niculitel area, where there were references in the public space regarding the possible fall of drone fragments. Research in this area has not indicated any fallen fragments.
