Final push of rain before the state dries out over the weekend

Today New Mexico will see a final push of widespread rain before the weather dries out over the weekend.

Nearly the entire state will see some rain later this afternoon and into the evening. Heavy rain is expected in the southeast. As well as in the Sangre de Cristo and Sacramento Mountains. Due to this heavy rainfall the National Weather Service has issued flood watches for portions of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and southeastern New Mexico. This flood watch will go into effect at 1:00 p.m. on August 30th and will stay in place through the evening.

On Saturday the state begins to dry out as dry air moves in. The best rain chances on Saturday will be in the Mountains, Central, and Southeast New Mexico. By Sunday the rain chances also completely dissipate. Rain will be isolated to the Southern New Mexico. The heaviest rainfall will be in the southeast.

There is a bit of uncertainty regarding the Labor Day Forecast. Some models are leaning towards heavy rain in Southern and Southeast New Mexico. Other models are only showing light rain in the southeast. One thing most models agree on is that Central and Northern New Mexico will be staying mostly dry.
