Floodlights Share New Single ‘Can You Feel It’ Alongside Signing To [PIAS] Recordings

Naarm/Melbourne rockers Floodlights have officially entered their new era, announcing a global signing with the legendary [PIAS] Recordings alongside the release of their newest single, Can You Feel It.

Deeply focused on themes of growth, the challenges that come alongside self-discovery, and mixed feelings on the verge of an unknown, it’s their first piece of new music since the release of their Australian Music Prize-nominated debut album, Painting Of My Time.

An introspective piece of post-punk influenced rock that signals their new direction, the slow-burning track features production from Dan Luscombe (Courtney Barnett, Amyl And The Sniffers), with mixing handled by the Grammy Award-winning John Congleton.

Can You Feel It began as an idea in Naarm/Melbourne and was shaped into a song in London,” the group explain. “The lyrics were written in a quick burst, in one of those moments where words pour out – releasing a bottled up feeling of anticipation, excitement and fear – an act of catharsis, much like the song itself.

“It quickly became a key element of our live set as we toured the UK/EU over three months in 2023.”

The new single also comes paired with the news of the band’s worldwide signing to [PIAS] Recordings, indicating that a much bigger global spotlight is about to be shone on Floodlights.

“We’re so excited to welcome Floodlights to the [PIAS] family,” Mari Stuart, Label Group Director at [PIAS] Australia said in a statement. “Floodlights are one of those rare bands that you can’t help but fall in love with on first listen, and are up there as one of Australia’s greatest live acts.

“Our local label team have all been massive fans of Floodlights for a while now and we can’t wait to share their incredible music with the world through [PIAS]’s global network.”

Floodlights’ new single and signing will be accompanied by a run of dates thoughout New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland over the coming months, before the band head back over to Europe. Tickets to their upcoming Australian tour are on sale now.
