Football: Romania – Bulgaria 0:0 in Friendly Match

RMAG news

Romania – Bulgaria 0:0 in a friendly match on Tuesday, June 4, in Romania’s preparation series before EURO 2024. It was rather a verification game than a disputed one, but still an attraction for Romania’s fans who filled Ghencea Stadium in Bucharest. Notably, Ghencea is the former home field of Steaua Bucharest.

Because the home team lacked the determination to win the game and was even dominated by the Bulgarian team during the last 20 minutes, a few thousand fans showed their disappointment by booing and whistling in dissatisfaction with how their players approached this game after the referee ended the match.

Denis Man failed to score from a penalty kick in ’51. Also, to the fans’ disappointment, Romania had some other excellent opportunities to score but failed.

Romania won Group I after beating Switzerland in November and qualifying for the June final tournament. The game against Bulgaria is the second to last test, and the match against Liechtenstein follows. So far, Romania lost to Columbia 2-3 in a friendly game and drew 1-1 with Northern Ireland.

The starting team for Romania, playing a strong 4-2-3-1, was Niță – Rațiu, Drăgușin, Rus, Bancu – Marius Marin, Răzvan Marin – Man, Stanciu, Mihăilă – Drăguș.

Bulgaria had a dynamic 4-3-3 with Dyulgerov – Turitsov, Atanasov, Petkov, Petrov – Petkov, Krastev, Kostadinov – Despodov, Kolev, Panayotov.
