The ongoing fantasy C-drama Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact, starring Gong Jun and Yang Mi, released episode 13 on May 28, 2024. The episode focuses on the aftermath of Princess Bu Tai’s murder. Lai and Yaya investigate whether any spirit ran away from the kingdom after the crime took place.
The spirit has to be powerful to reach the princess in Shi Kuan’s presence. They conclude that whoever committed the heinous crime did it to provoke conflict between humans and spirits.
Hong Hong cares for ailing Yuechu. He clings to her to find comfort. Hong Hong is displeased with him for risking his own life to retrieve the yin stone. She makes him promise that he won’t harm his own body to protect Dongfang Luo’s soul. Yuechu is willing to serve Hong Hong to any extent. He wants to protect her feelings and mortal body while she protects her clan. Hong Hong slowly breaks the news of the princess’s assassination to him.
Shi Kuan mourns the death of his beloved princess. The memories of the time he spent with her continue to haunt him. He wants to keep her in his heart forever and avenge her untimely death.
Yuechu reveals what he and the princess found during their investigation. The king once fell in love with a spirit. Unfortunately, nobody in her family was as brave as the princess. The magic tool Bu Tai and Shi Kuan used when they got attached under the mystical grief tree protects the fragments of her soul.
The spirit power within the tool is Shi Kuan’s. Hong Hong uses a divine edict to seal her soul so that when Bu Tai and Shi Kuan reunite, their past memories will reappear. Hong Hong concludes that humans and spirits can become one under the grief tree by exchanging vows, which are nourished by true love.

To find out what the princess truly wished for, Hong Hong and Yuechu visit grief-stricken Shi Kuan. Hong Hong attempts to uplift his spirits, saying that the princess wouldn’t want to see him sink into the abyss of sadness. She advises him to protect her kingdom and people for her. Yuechu suggests he alter the kingdom’s name as well to ensure that the humans and spirits remain equal. Shi Kuan vows to protect Bu Tai’s kingdom till his last breath.
Shi Kuan asks Hong Hong if he and the princess will unite again in another form. Hong Hong consoles him and asks him to believe in the grief tree’s plans.
The spirits and humans of the kingdom continue to fight. While the spirits think that the princess deprived them by making a false promise of freedom, the humans want to avenge the princess’s death. Shi Kuan, along with Hong Hong, Yuechu, and other Tushan spirits, calms them down. They inspire them to unite against the evil spirit lord’s scheme, who wants to hurt both clans.
Furthermore, Hong Hong and Shi Kuan create a spirit alliance that will work towards protecting the weak spirits and punishing the evil ones. Although the three Tushan sisters have gotten a lot stronger, Hong still Hong worries about Shi Ji’s return. She is certain that the spirit lord has someone strong supporting her.
Shi Ji suffers from extreme fatigue and weakness after the grief tree suppresses her powers. She sends a message to Guo Guo and instructs him to look for a powerful spirit so she can use their spirit core.
