“Contamination complete.” Shudder has unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror called MADS, also written as MadS. That title doesn’t tell you much (the Romanian title translates to Nightmare Night) but this is an intense, kinetic new horror thriller. It’s another one-long-take film, taking place with one shot that goes on non-stop through the entire 89 minute runtime. A teen goes to his dealers getting a wild new drug before a night of partying. When he picks up an injured woman on the way home, things take a bizarre and surreal turn. With Lewkowski Yovel, Laurie Pavy, Lucille Guillaume. The “choice to shoot this film in a single shot stems from the desire to make this hallucinatory journey as authentic as possible,” they state. “Every scene, every emotion, is experienced in real-time, with no possibility of escape – an unparalleled plunge into this altered state of consciousness. [It] becomes much more than a technical feat. It becomes the indispensable tool for anchoring the spectator in this ghost-train, where the bad trip becomes palpable, real, and overwhelming.” What a pitch!
