ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Local country bands used their music to salute those who have served on Saturday.

The Salute to Service Country Fest was held at the American Legion, the oldest group offering services to veterans in the community.

While the event was full of music and dancing, organizers said the festival was for more than just the chance for great bands to get on stage and play.

“It’s kind of giving back. We all get a chance to get up here and play and have some fun, and yet, we give back,” said William Cast, ‘Back in the Saddle’ member.

There were also food trucks, vendors, and a silent auction.

All the proceeds from the event went straight back to the American Legion and the services they offer.

Cast said he hopes to get four to six bands to collaborate and take more local, country music across New Mexico.
