Gov’t Mule has officially unveiled the details for the 15th-anniversary staging of Island Exodus, the band’s beloved concert getaway tradition. Returning once more to the Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, the band will welcome its dedicated fans and an all-star lineup to join in the tropical sojourn to beat the winter weather from January 19-23, 2025. This year’s “concert-cation” will feature three full double-frame shows from the host band and a special solo set from Grammy-winning frontman Warren Haynes, as well as guests including Drive-By Truckers, Karina Rykman and more.
Island Exodus 15 offers an all-inclusive program with four full days of music and community in paradise. Beyond performances from the legendary Southern rock torchbearers, fans can expect sets from 20-year roots rock fan favorites Drive-By Truckers, who are currently celebrating their landmark third album with the “Southern Rock Opera Revisited Tour,” and Trey Anastasio-approved indie rock virtuoso Rykman. Canadian reggae-rock favorites Big Sugar will also perform, as will special guest saxophonist Ron Holloway, best known for his work with the Warren Haynes Band, Susan Tedeschi, Dizzy Gillespie and more. Offstage activities will include a Q&A with Haynes, a Fan Jam led by Holloway, beachfront tie-dying and much more.
“We’re excited to return to Jamaica for our 15th Island Exodus,” Haynes shares in a release. “This is always such a special experience so this year, we handpicked a lineup featuring talented friends of ours and artists that share a connection with Gov’t Mule. We have a long history with Drive-By Truckers, dating back to 2002, shortly after the release of their Southern Rock Opera record, when they opened for Mule’s fall tour. We haven’t had an opportunity to play together in a long time so that will be fun. Our connection to Big Sugar goes back even further – all the way to the start of Gov’t Mule in the mid-’90s. So with Mule celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, we had to have those guys out there on the sand with us. Karina Rykman and her band played last year’s Christmas Jam and we knew right then and there that we needed to have them in Jamaica. And then, of course, we can’t have an Island Exodus without Ron Holloway!”
