On Friday, June 14, Greensky Bluegrass touched down in the Big Apple for the one and only New York City stop in its 2024 touring schedule. Returning to the Rooftop at Pier 17–a favorite New York venue for the pioneering quintet–the band delivered a stirring 17-song single-set performance and two-track encore against the breathtaking city skyline. Once a raging storm cleared and the sky opened again, the Greensky balanced tried and true classics against relative rarities and special selects in a set heavy on fan-service; between essentials like “Leap Year,” “Old Barns” and “Living Over,” fans were treated to rarities like “Broken Highways,” Charlie Monroe’s “Bringin’ in the Georgia Mail” and Jimi Hendrix’s classic “Foxy Lady,” staged only 11 times by the group since its 2015 debut. As a cherry on top, the band also debuted a new track, covering Fruition’s 2016 entry “The Meaning” for the very first time.
