Over the weekend, Guster celebrated the 25th anniversary of Lost and Gone Forever, the band’s major label debut, amid a busy tour weekend. The excitement began at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, then continued to North Carolina for its biggest headlining show in their three-decade journey, and finally came to a head at O.A.R.’s Ocean’s Calling, where they performed some exciting cover material with unexpected guests.

On Friday, Sept. 27, at the vaunted Ryman Auditorium, Guster performed Lost and Gone Forever in its entirety for the third time this year. To bring the night’s nostalgia to its peak, former member and opener Joe Pisapia sat in for the encore of the full LP performance, joining the band for “Hang On,” “The Captain” and an unplugged version of “Jesus on the Radio.”

On Saturday, Sept. 28, the alt-rock ensemble ventured to North Carolina for a staging at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. In honor of the band’s largest headlining show, Guster improvised a track between “Manifest Destiny” and “Don’t Go,” riffing on being in the Tarheel state. Later, the group was joined by harpist and opening act Mikaela Davis, who came onstage for a rendition of “Black Balloon,” returning the favor for Guster tour drummer Dave Butler, who sat in on Davis’ set. To close out a year of headlining shows, Guster made the live debut of “The Elevator,” released earlier this year on Ooh La La.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, during a set billed as “O.A.R. & Friends” at O.A.R.’s Oceans Calling Festival, Guster guitarist Adam Gardner revived Yukon Kornelius, a side project with Ed Robertson of The Barenaked Ladies and bassist Stefan Lessard of Dave Matthews Band. Guster also joined O.A.R. for a number of covers and sit-ins, including songs with Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider, as well as collaborations with Lisa Loeb and Dave Matthews Band’s Rashawn Ross during the weekend’s “& friends” sets.

While Guster has now finished off its scheduled performances for 2024, the band will return to the stage next year as the “We Also Have Eras” Tour continues in January and February. For tickets and more information, visit guster.com.
