Lifetime documentary series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up chronicles the journey of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who went to prison for playing a role in her mother’s murder in 2015. Reports indicate that she decided to kill her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, after she ordered her to stay away from her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. The former couple then stitched a plan to murder Gypsy Rose’s mother. After authorities arrested Gypsy Rose and Godejohn for the killing, the court found Gypsy Rose and her accomplice guilty in the murder case and sent them to prison.
According to ABC News, Nicholas Godejohn traveled to Missouri and visited the Blanchard residence. The publication stated that after arriving at the house, Gypsy gave Godejohn a knife, duct tape, and gloves. Subsequently, she hid in the bathroom while Godejohn killed Dee Dee by stabbing her multiple times. After the murder, Gypsy Rose wrote on her mother’s Facebook, “That b—-ch is dead,” which played a significant role in catching the culprits. When police arrived, Gypsy Rose was nowhere to be seen. Furthermore, they traced the Facebook post’s location to Godejohn’s house in Wisconsin.
On June 15, investigators arrested Gypsy Rose and Nicholas Godejohn for Dee Dee’s murder. Per News Nation, Godejohn told police about the murder and confessed Gypsy Rose’s involvement. Although the latter initially denied her involvement, she eventually pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. As a result, the court sent Gypsy Rose to prison for 10 years. Meanwhile, Godejohn received a life sentence with the possibility of no parole. In 2022, while in prison, she married Ryan Scott Anderson after having email exchanges.
People Magazine reported that Gypsy Rose was released on December 28, 2023, after serving 85% of her sentence. Afterward, she went on to live with Scott Anderson in Louisiana. However, she announced separation from her husband and filed for divorce in April 2024.

A few weeks after announcing her separation, Gypsy Rose was spotted enjoying time with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker. According to the photos acquired by TMZ, she and Urker attended the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Another People Magazine report stated that Gypsy Rose and Urker went to a tattoo parlor together. For the uninitiated, Gypsy Rose and Urker became romantically involved after they exchanged letters in prison. He contacted her after watching the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest.
The outlet also reported that Ken Urker proposed to her in 2018 and gave her two engagement rings. Gypsy Rose shared that Urker’s family supported their relationship. However, they called off their engagement in August 2019 and got back three years later in August 2022.
However, by the time they reunited, Gypsy Rose had already married Ryan Scott Anderson. At first, her marriage to Scott Anderson seemed fine, but the news of their separation surprised many. During an interview with Daily Mail, Scott Anderson noted how upset he was after the breakup and didn’t know she still had feelings for Urker.
Although the duo never disclosed the reason for their separation, one of Gypsy Rose’s friends revealed that Anderson became controlling. Subsequently, the pair fought right before their split, and she opened up about her feelings for Urker. After their separation, the ex-convict revealed in May 2024 that Ken Urker was relocating to Louisiana so that they could be close. She told Entertainment Tonight, “He’s actually going to be moving to Louisiana to be closer to me.”
