Heavy rain coming to New Mexico today and tomorrow

Temperatures slightly warm up across the state. Rain chances begin to move to the east.

The afternoon heat across New Mexico will be slightly warmer today then it was yesterday. However, temperatures will begin to cool off once again tomorrow when widespread rain is brought to the state by a cold front.

Today, rain will be concentrated in the Northern Mountains. As well as, the central and eastern regions of New Mexico. Heavy rainfall is expected along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Due to this the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar Area. This watch will be in place through the evening of August 29th. The northeast can also expect heavy rain.

While widespread rain is coming to the state on Friday, Saturday will begin to dry out. Dry air begins to wrap itself around New Mexico over the weekend. This will drastically decrease rain chances. By Sunday the rain will be entirely isolated to the south and southeast. On Labor day the rain will only be in the southeast.
