Although Diddy is considered one of the most influential rapper’s in the musical industry, his reputation suffered a blow after multiple women accused him of sexual abuse and trafficking. Since November 2023, six women have come forward with allegations of repeated sexual abuse by Diddy. In November 2023, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit and accused him of rape and abuse. According to People Magazine, Ventura claimed that the musician sexually assaulted her throughout their relationship. The outlet reported that the rapper raped Ventura when she ended their relationship. Diddy denied the accusations and slammed Ventura for “outrageous” claims. In a statement, Diddy claimed that Ventura demanded $30 million after threatening him with writing a book. Although Ventura denied the claims, she settled the lawsuit to their “mutual satisfaction.”
However, a week later, another woman filed a lawsuit against Diddy, claiming he drugged her before raping her. Per People Magazine, the supposed incident took place in 1991 when the victim was a college student. Meanwhile, one more woman accused him of rape and sexual assault. Citing the complaint, the publication stated the musician raped the victim and one of her friends in New York City three decades ago. Since then, three more women have alleged similar kinds of predatory behavior from the musician.
In the middle of these abuse allegations, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided Diddy’s houses in Miami and Los Angeles. ABC News reported that the raids were a part of the ongoing investigation. The raids allegedly took place after one of Diddy’s victims lodged a complaint in December 2023, saying that she was gang-raped and sex-trafficked in 2003.
Has Diddy been charged in the sexual abuse case?
Recently, a sixth woman sued the rapper, claiming that he drugged her and raped her in New York City in the 1990s. Citing the court documents, People Magazine mentioned that the complaint sued the rapper and his record labels on allegations of “battery, sexual assault, negligent infliction of emotional distress and violation of the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law.” Moreover, she claimed that Diddy called her to celebrate Father’s Day with Bad Boy Records and initially treated her kindly. However, his behavior changed and turned into an “abusive relationship” based on sex.
In her complaint, the woman also claimed that the first incident happened in 1995. At the time, Diddy coerced her to drink alcohol at a New York City bar. Afterward, the rapper took her to his hotel, where he “raped” her despite her attempts to “avoid the interaction.” The second incident took place in the presence of a parking garage attendant, where Diddy forced her to perform “oral sex.” The incident made her “distance herself” from Diddy, but she met him again after he threatened her.
Diddy then forced her to take “ecstasy” in his Manhattan residence in 1996. Per People Magazine, the musician forced the victim and his girlfriend to have sex with each other. When the victim opposed, Diddy threatened to get her fired from her job. According to court documents (via CNN), Diddy sexually assaulted her afterward. The lawsuit claimed, “She felt that if she disobeyed him, he would take away her dreams of pursuing a career in his world. Mr. Combs would also threaten to blacklist her in the industry if she tried to mess with him in any way.”
The recently filed complaint comes just two days after a woman alleged that Diddy drugged her and went on to sexually assault her. According to BBC, the incident happened in 2003 when the rapper offered her alcohol and marijuana to intoxicate her. Afterward, he forced her to have oral sex with him. Additionally, the victim alleged that she suffered a lot of setbacks in her modeling career and blamed Diddy for it. She even attempted suicide because of depression and anxiety.
Even after multiple accusations of rape, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking, authorities haven’t filed any criminal charges against the rapper yet.
Why did Diddy apologize on social media?
Although Diddy has denied all the charges against him, he recently uploaded an apology video on social media after CNN released a disturbing video of him hitting Cassie Ventura. The video showed the rapper getting out of his hotel room and chasing Ventura in the lobby. He then grabs her by the neck and throws her to the ground. Moreover, he kicked her before taking her wallet and suitcase. As soon as the video went viral, the musician apologized and said he takes all the responsibility for his actions.
Diddy said, “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I went and I sought out professional help. I’m so sorry.”
Since the allegations of rape and sexual assault surfaced against Diddy, the rapper has suffered a dip in his musical career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the artist has recorded a drop of 51.8% between December 2023 and May 2024.
